The Wing of the AN - 24 Airliner.

1. The aircraft wing is high cantilever tapered airfoil. It is divided into three section: a centre plane, inner wing and outer wing. The centre plane and inner wings carry four re­tractable two-slot flaps; the outer wings carry two ailerons sections. The wing sections are joined by means of profiles.

2. The wing is of a strong-box type. It is composed of two spars, 23 ribs, skin and stringers which form the panel of the lea­ding edge and trailing edge sections, and wing tip fairings. The wing strong box is formed by spars, ribs and skin panels. The centre plane strong box accommodate four bag fuel tanks. The inner wing strong box comprises sealed integral fuel tanks.

3. The wing skin is of varying thickness. The wing leading edges are provided with an air heating system. The wing trailing edge sections accommodate flap controls and ailerons control links.

4. The major portion of the wing structural members is made from duralumin sheet and profiled sections. The wing-to-fuselage jointing as well as the wing jointing is performed by steel bolts and nuts.

5. The centre plane skin panels are of two types: detachable and non-detachable. The panels are pressed from aluminium aloy. They have stiffening ribs which serve as stringers. The centre plane trailing edge has cut-outs made between the ribs for the engine nacelles. The inner surface of the centre plane is lined with glass textolite where fuel tanks are installed. The construction of the leading and trailing edges of the inner wing is similar to that of the respective centre plane sections.
