I like to do my shopping at big department stores and supermarkets. They sell various goods under one roof and this is very convenient. There are also escalators in big stores which take customers to different floors. The things for sale are on the counters so that they can be easily seen. In the men's clothing department you can choose suits, trousers, overcoats, ties, etc. In the knitwear department one can buy sweaters, cardigans, short-sleeved and long-sleeved pullovers, woolen jackets. In the perfumery they sell face cream and powder, lipstick, lotions and shampoos.

In a food supermarket we can also buy many different things at once: sausages, fish, sugar, macaroni, flour, cereals, tea. At the butcher's there is a wide choice of meat and poultry. At the bakery you buy brown and white bread, rolls, biscuits. Another shop we frequently go to is the greengrocery which is stocked by cabbage, potatoes, onions, cucumbers, carrots, beetroots, green peas and what not. Everything is sold here ready-weighed and packed. If you call round at a dairy you can buy milk, cream, cheese, butter and many other products.

The methods of shopping may vary. It may be a self-service shop where the customer goes from counter to counter selecting and putting into a basket what he wishes to buy. Then he takes the basket to the check-out counter, where the prices of the purchases are added up. If it is not a self-service shop, and most small shops are not, the shop-assistant helps the customer in finding what he wants. You pay money to the cashier and he gives you back the change.

19. The advantages and disadvantages of the shopping in supermarkets.

Nowadays, shopping in supermarkets is becoming more and more popular. The most of people like shopping in supermarket but the others do not like. This essay discusses the advantages and the drawbacks of the shopping in supermarkets.

First of all, shopping in supermarkets helps consumer feel comfortable. The foods in the supermarket are good quality and safety and hygiene. Moreover, the prices between supermarkets and markets do not always too much different, even sometimes the prices of the supermarkets are cheaper than the market. Secondly, the services in supermarket are good. The service staff is very careful, thoughtful and enthusiasm. The supermarkets are prepared air conditioner, create a cool atmosphere for customers. Thirdly, opening hours from 7am to 21pm, it helps busy people have time to go shopping. Anytime the commodities are always available, it helps them can buy anything they want. Finally, Supermarkets often have great promotions and costumers will have the opportunity to receive attractive gifts which makes the costumer feel excited. Moreover Commodities in supermarkets are abundant and varied from high to moderate fit each consumer pocketbooks.

On the other hand, there are many disadvantages of the shopping in supermarkets: Firstly, displaying products in supermarket is not really good, sometimes the costumers feel uncomfortable when they can not find the right position for the items they need because of disturbance of the item, or misplaced quotation. This point can not fully belong to the supermarket, maybe it is costumer’s fault, but supermarkets should also pay attention to fix. Secondly, many people think that meat and fish is not fresh and delicious because it was frozen too long time. Vegetables are being contusion and flooding because there are many costumers choice them but they do not buy. Thirdly, the most of people feel uncomfortable because they must wait long time to cash register.

Summary, the appearance of supermarkets gave customers more options for shopping. That makes supermarkets becoming a "focal point" of the retail market in Vietnam. However, besides these services bring real benefits to customers, the supermarket should also interested and listening more to the actual needs of the people. Since then, changes in service mode, to best serve the needs of customers.
