The socio-cultural status of a teacher





The education purpose – reproduction and cultural development in all variety of its universal and national wealth. There can't be the education, not originating in national culture, there can't be educated the people, not seeking to seize universal values, to learn culture of other nations and nationalities. The education system will be effective in case in society the status of the educated intellectual person is high.

Now there is a deepening of contradictions between requirements imposed to the personality and activity of the teacher, and the actual level of readiness of educational institutions to performance of the functions by them; between standard system of training of the teacher and individual and creative nature of its activity. Alienation of the teacher from society and national cultures, from school and the pupil became an inevitable consequence of technocratic and extensive approaches in pedagogical education. It led to sharp decrease in the social status and prestige of a pedagogical profession, discrepancy of system of training of the teacher to public requirements and an aggravation of educational problems.

The called contradictions cause need of the solution of the related problems for education:

• problem of a new goal-setting;

• problem of new structure of education;

• problem of updating of the content of education;

• problem of updating of organizational forms and methods.

The called problems form the basis for change of target orientations of the cumulative subject of pedagogical activity which joins all participants of educational process (pupils and their parents, teachers and additional education teachers, and also social teachers and representatives of the production, cultural, educational public).

The common goal peculiar to pedagogical activity, - familiarizing of the person with culture values. In the purpose specifics of this activity are shown. This purpose is defined as special mission, "the mission – creation and self-determination of the personality in culture, the statement of the person in the person". The mechanism of familiarizing of the person to cultural values is sociocultural activity.

Sociocultural activity is the process which is carried out in the educational environment which all components are filled with human meanings and serve the person who is freely showing the identity, ability to creative self-expression in the world of cultural values. Sociocultural activity means sociocultural approach to education process, as unities of culture and the society formed by activity of the person. Its specifics are that it integrates type of measurement of human life: ratios of the person and society, nature of culture, sociality type. In this case the culture is understood as set of ways and results of activity of the person both material, and spiritual, and as a sociality set of the relations of each person or other social subject with other subjects, formed in the course of activity.

Sociocultural activity as any activity has the components, characteristic only for educational process, such components are:

• attitude towards the pupil as to the subject of life capable to sociocultural development and self-change;

• the attitude towards the teacher as to the intermediary between the pupil and the culture, capable to enter it into the world of culture and to give support of the personality in her individual expression in the world of sociocultural values;

• the relation to education, as to the sociocultural process which driving forces are dialogue and cooperation of its participants, in achievement of the objectives of their creative self-expression;

• the relation to educational institution as to complete, sociocultural, educational space where a creative way of life is recreated, there are cultural events, is carried out education of the person of culture.

In the course of sociocultural activity there is a cultural transmission which is carried out in three directions:

• Vertical transmission is a process of direct transfer of cultural values in communication;

• Horizontal transmission – transfer of cultural values between pupils in the course of communication;

• "Indirect" transmission – transfer through training process, by means of a subject and equipment of teaching.

Teachers in this case carry out various functions: training, developing, bringing up etc.

All model of sociocultural activity is focused on creative self-expression of subjects of process of education. For this purpose it is necessary to track the mechanism of the organization of interaction of the teacher and the child and performance of different types of cultural transmission. Each teacher creates a problem field according to the chosen subject. Seeing in it relevance, sets before itself the purpose and problems of the forthcoming work. The teacher will organize interaction, surely using all types of cultural transmission.
