Types of service

Tourist services are divided into the basic and additional ones in their structure.

The basic services are:

1) transportation organization

2) accommodation;

3) catering of tourists.

Additional services concern:

1) the organization of excursions;

2) insurance for tourists;

3) guides, guides-interpreters

4) transportation of tourists from a place of their arrival in the country (their temporary place of stay) to a place of their accommodation and back (transfer), and also any other transportation within the country provided by travel conditions;

5) equipment repair;

6) hire;

7) currency exchange;

8) phone;

9) mail;

10) consumer services;

11) the right of using a beach.

Such division is conventional as there aren't essential differences between them from the point of view consumer properties. The services included in the main program and confirmed by the voucher refer to the basic services. Tourists get additional services themselves at their place of stay, these services are not included in the voucher.

In most cases tourist basic services consist of transport services, accommodation and catering. However while organizing travels with informative, professional-business, sport, religious purposes, the services traditionally referred to the additional can be the bases of tours.

Besides non-material services the specific goods or material services can be offered to tourists. For example, cities maps, underground maps, souvenirs, tourist equipments and etc.

Tour is a complex of basic and additional services, provided for tourists depending on the travel purposes. Property right on the tour for tourist realization is called a tourist product.

It is offered to emphasize the following kinds of tourism:

1) recreational tourism;

2) educational tourism;

3) professional and business tourism;

4) shop tours.

1. Recreational tourism h as especially personal, individual character. Usual duration of treatment tour is about 24-28 days which is more than any kinds of tourism. Health improving rest depending on the means of body influence can be climate, sea, mud cure, etc.

2. Educational tourism includes travel and trips with the informative purposes. Excursion as the form of knowledge and leisure broadens the mind. One of the educational trips is a car tourism which give tourists more cognitive possibilities than trips by any other means of transportation.

3. Professional and business tourism refers to trips on business purposes. Life in the modern civilized society causes the necessity of the international contacts. Business trips are very popular today.

4. Shop tours are a characteristic of Russia. The purpose of trips abroad is to consume goods for their subsequent realization.
