9 Reflexive Pronouns. Возвратные местоимения

Note: В русском языке возвратным местоимениям (itself, themselves и т.д.) в значении себя может соответствовать не само это слово, а частица -ся.

The materials can destroy themselves after utilization. Материалы могут разрушаться после использования.

10 The verb TO BE

11 Оборот THERE + BE

Два способа перевода оборота на русский язык:

1. Перевод начинается с обстоятельства

There are five faculties at our University. В нашем университете пять факультетов.

There are seven days in a week. В неделе семь дней.

There were no computers before 1940. До 1940 года не было компьтеров.

2. Перевод начинается со сказуемого, которое переводится: есть, имеется, существует

There are different methods of learning English words. Существуют (имеются, есть) различные методы заучивания английских слов.

 

NOTE: В обороте THERE+BE вместо глагола BE могут употребляться

следующие глаголы: to exist (существовать), to remain (оставаться), to follow

(следовать), to occur (иметь место, происходить) и т.д.

There exist many types of measuring instruments. Существует много типов измерительных приборов.

12 Количественные местоимения MANY, MUCH, FEW, LITTLE

Note: Часто much заменяется словами a lot (of), lots (of), plenty (of), a great deal of. Вместо many употребляются a lot (of), lots (of), plenty (of), a great many, a good many, которые имеют значение множество, много.

We saw a lot of people there yesterday. Мы видели там много народу вчера.

I have plenty of work. У меня много работы.

13 The verb TO HAVE

Concrete has many advantages over other building materials. Бетон имеет много преимуществ над другими строительными материалами
