Task 2. Find things for Christmas

Rudolph decided to make a Christmas card and send it to his colleagues from Russia. Unfortunately he fell ill and didn’t manage to finish it, but Dancer, Vixen, Cupid and Dasherhelped him to draw a card. Look what they have drawn!!! Find 10 Christmas attributes and write them in English in alphabetical order in your answer sheet.

Task 3. Countries – Traditions.

Christmas is the most popular holiday not only in England but all around the world. So many countries so many Christmas customs and traditions. Read about Christmas traditions and guess the countries. Match the countries A-F with the traditions 1-6.

Traditions:

1. At Christmas times people decorate houses with red and white garlands and on the door they hang Father Christmas boots.

2. The name of Christmas here is Ganna and it is celebrated on 7^th January. People go to church- everyone takes a candle and walks around the church three times.

3. People decorate banana or mango trees. Lamps are put on roofs and walls of the buildings, so streets can look very beautifully.

4. It is very hot here at Christmas – usually around 30 degrees, so many people eat the Christmas dinner on the beach. There is no snow here at Christmas, so Santa Claus doesn’t use a sleigh, but arrives on a surfboard.

5. In this country many people hang some food on the tree in front of the window. It may be pinecones, corn kernel, unsalted nuts, apples studded with mixed seeds and etc. They refuse to sit down to Christmas dinner until the birds outside have been fed.

6. People think that the day before Christmas is a fast day, and eat and drink very little. The time for exchanging gifts is the 6^th of January. These gifts are delivered by “la Befana”, a white witch who flies down the chimney with them on her broomstick. The gifts are left in the children’s shoes, which are placed before the fire.
