My future speciality

I am a second year student of Kherson National Technical University. I study at the department of Mechanical Engineering. The students of our department are specializing in mechanics, automation of technological processes and automated control systems, industrial electronics, electrical engineering, metrology. My future speciality is transport technologies. This speciality is very popular and important in our country because transport is a necessary part of any modern economy and industry.

The course of study lasts 5 years. The students study such special subjects as technical drawing, transport geography, theoretical fundamentals of transport processes and systems, logistics, passenger transportations, cargo transportations, computing, etc. But it is impossible to become a good specialist without deep knowledge of many general subjects. The students of our department study higher mathematics, History of Ukraine, Business Ukrainian language, philosophy, culture, English, physical training.

The academic activities for subjects fall into such types: lectures, seminars, practical classes, laboratories, tutorials, credits, examinations.

The department offers four year courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Transport Technologies. We are taught by a highly-qualified staff of professors, assistant professors and teachers. Theoretical training is combined with scientific work at the scientific centers and students’ design bureaus. Students participation in research is one of the most effective methods for training high qualified specialists capable of taking part in the rapidly developing scientific and technological revolution. As a rule, students write their term-papers and graduation theses on the problems connected with their scientific work. They take an active part in the scientific conferences. All these help to turn a student into highly-skilled specialists, ready for independent work.

To master the speciality well the students take practical training at different enterprises, transport companies, motor licencing and inspection departments of our city, at the subdivisions of custom services of transport enterprises, logistic organizations, in Sea and River ports. There the students improve and deepen their knowledge of the speciality.

The graduates of our faculty can work as mechanical engineers, designers, constructors, technologists, specialists of machine and equipment maintenance, engineers of chemical equipment and constructional technologies, researchers, experts in testing, experts at different enterprises, in technical centres.
