Interview of the Artistic director of Russian Ballet theatre «TALARIUM ET LUX» M.L.Lavrovsky

The Artistic director of the theatre, a People’s Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky is talking about classical ballet and the upcoming ballet premieres. Watch the details in Elena Tolstaya’s interview.

Russian ballet company «TALARIUM ET LUX» is planning to produce a number of premieres a year, these will be both classical ballet shows and absolutely new performances.

The first team of the ballet troupe consists of best ballet artists, soloists of the leading theatres in Russia. The ballet dancers’ mentors are Marina Aleksandrova – a guest dance coach cooperating with San-Francisco Ballet School (USA), experienced choreographer and dance coach Yury Romashko. The soloists Sergey Smirnov, Marina Romanova, Tamara Glazova earlier participated in major performances in the Bolshoi Theatre, «Moscow Ballet» theatre, «Kremlin Ballet» and other theatres.

«TALARIUM ET LUX» theatre managed by People’s artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky is announcing an additional casting for ballet dancers to support the theatre on tour. We are looking for candidates with a degree in Professional Ballet Dance and Performance and work experience.

Employment procedure is regulated by the Labour Code of Russian Federation.

Thaikovsky’s «the Nutcracker» premiered on stage of Russian Academic Youth Theatre in Moscow on Friday and Saturday is introducing a Theatre of Russian ballet «Talarium et Lux». The classical choreography is combined with lighting show and multimedia decorations, reported the Artistic Director of the Theatre Mikhail Lavrovsky.

According to him, the idea of the project was to combine the academic choreography with multimedia technologies and computer animation. The performance was based on the 1934 classical version of «the Nutcracker» by Vasili Vainonen.

«This ‘Leningrad’ edition was revised by our soloist and an aspiring choreographer Dmitriy Kozhemyakin in his own way, - shared Lavrovsky. – This is his thesis work as of a future choreographer, that’s why I closely guided it, made some comments. Some parts were staged brilliantly, he is a talented man, though the spectacle itself is a different kind of thing, and what’s going to be in result, we’ll all see on premiere night».

Lavrovsky added that being the Artistic Director of the Theatre he didn’t interfere in young producer’s work, however he asked him to consider the stylistics of Hoffmann’s fairy-tale. «The producer aimed at creating a brand new spectacle with action on stage easily delivered to the audience, which is also important», — stressed our agent.

Rehearsals of «the Nutcracker» lasted for about a year. The production involves artists from Moscow and other other cities. The ballet troupe devoted the performance to 120^th anniversary of the ballet premiere at the Mariinsky Theatre in 1892.

Theatre of Russian ballet «Talarium et Lux» was founded in 2012. A People’s artist of the USSR, a ballet master and dance coach Mikhail Lavrovsky became the Artistic Director of a new company. A special feature of the theatre is a combination of classical choreography with modern lighting show and multimedia technologies. «Talarium et Lux» is planning to produce a number of premieres a year, among which there will be classical ballet dance repertory along with new productions.

Театр «Talarium et Lux» под руководством Михаила Лавровского, открывшийся в октябре 2012 года, выбрал для постановки версию 1934 года в хореографии Василия Вайнонена. Постановка описывается как балет-феерия, который будет сопровождаться световым шоу, а декорации в балете будут мультимедийными. Таким образом постановка будет выполнена в абсолютно новой сценографии.Theatre «Talarium et Lux» managed by Mikhail Lavrovsky was opened in 2012. For the first production the company chose the 1934 version of «the Nutcracker» ballet with choreography of Vasili Vainonen. The theatre production is described as a ballet-extravaganza accompanied by a lighting show and using multimedia decorations. Thus, it is set in a completely new stage environment.

Репетиции и подготовка балета, на созданием которого трудились художники-аниматоры, длились на протяжении года. В самом балете принимают участие около 30 танцовщиков. В пресс-релизе отмечается, что над спектаклем работал художественный руководитель театра Михаил Лавровский, педагог Балетной школы Сан-Франциско Марина Александрова, педагог-хореограф Юрий Ромашко и выдающийся художник по костюмам Дмитрий Парадизов.Rehearsals and ballet preparation took a year, lots of animation artists were involved in this project. The ballet troupe consists of around 30 ballet dancers. It is marked in the press-release, that work on the dance performance was implemented by the Artistic Director of the theatre, a dance coach from Ballet School of San-Francisco – Marina Aleksandrova, a dance coach and choreographer Yuriy Romashko, an outstanding costume designer Dmitriy Paradizov.

This performance is set to honour the 120th anniversary of its premiere on stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in 1892. The libretto for the ballet was created by Marius Petipa based on the fairy- tale «The Nutcracker and the Mouse King» by E.T.A Hoffmann.
