Letterhead – the name and address of an organization printed at the top of office stationery.

Letter of application:

– a letter from a person asking for a stated number of shares in a company when shares are first issued;

- a letter written by someone asking for a job, usually in response to an advertisement.

Macaroni defense – a defensive tactic aimed at intentionally making the takeover more expensive and therefore less attractive for the bidder.

Macaroni defense (by analogy with the expansion of macaroni when it is cooked!) consists in issuing a massive amount of bonds that have to be redeemed right after the company is taken over which makes the takeover prohibitively expensive for the bidder.

Magnate – a person of great wealth, power and importance in business or industry.

Main market – the primary market for buying and selling equities on the International Stock Exchange.

Asset management – a service offering advice on investments.

Middle management – level of company management that consists of managers responsible for different departments within the organization.
