Your regular family meals. Your eating habits.

Food is essential to life. When planning meals, the value of the food to the body is of first importance. Food give us energy. Energy is needed for vital processes- breathing, circulation ofthe blood and for activities with work and recreation.

As for my family, we have three meals a day. We eat breakfast, dinner and supper. Besides I have lunch at college.

Breakfast, as doctors say, must be the most substantial meal of the day. As for my Mum, she is always preparing breakfast for all the members of our family, so she just has some salad, a cup,of coffee with cream and some sandwiches. As for me, what I eat in the morning depends on my mood. Sometimes I don't want to eat at all and just drink a cup of tea with biscuits and sweets. But generally I like to eat some salad. L am very fond of all sorts of salad: mixed salad, vegetable salad.

I've mentioned that I have my lunch at college. There we have a canteen where you can buy a lot of things to eat. For lunch, I usually have mashed potatoes and sausages, some buns and a glass of tea. My dinner is most substantial meal of the day. I come home from college and eat everything with pleasure. Usually I have a three course dinner. For the first course, I take some soup. For the second course, I have some meat, I prefer meat dishes to chicken. It may be a roast beef, a chop or rissoles with vegetables or mashed potatoes. Then I eat dessert, I eat buns with honey or jam or especially I like cottage cheese

And some words about supper. My mother and sister have quite a substantial supper because after their dinner at a canteen they are often hungry in the evening. They eat stewed potatoes or cabbage with meats or fried potatoes with rissoles, or cheese omelet. My supper is a light meal. I think there is nothing better than a glass of juice and a bun for supper. For a change, I may have a glass of cocoa with biscuits or a piece of pie.

My mother thinks that an, apple a day keeps the doctor away. That's why she tries to buy fruit and vegetables, cakes, cooking and other tasty things.

Laying the table.

But best of all I like to lay the table. I do it carefully. I spread the table clotр and then I put out table — mats to protect the table from hot plates and dishes. I put out the cutlery, which clean and polish every week, and I sharpen e carving-knife.

The cutlery is kept in drawer in the sideboard. The wine-glasses are kept on shelves in the sideboard. I take out of the drawer in the sideboard all the cutlery — a fish-knife and fork for the fish, a large knife and fork for the meat, a small knife for the butter and fruit-knife for the dessert. Then there is a pudding-spoon and a fork for the sweet, and a soup-spoon for the soup.

I put the knives and the soup-spoon on the right-hand side and the forks on the left, except the pudding-spoon and fork which I put across the top. Then I put the serving- spoons and forks, the carving-knife and fork, the bread-board and a knife to cut the bread.

On the left of each guest I put a small plate for bread and on his right a wine-glass if we are having wine. And I am ready for the guests to come.

Table manners.

Table manners have evolved over centuries to make the practice of eating with others pleasant and sociable. With so many table manners to keep track, keep these basic, but oh-so-important, table manners in mind as you eat:

1. Chew with your mouth closed.

2. Keep your smartphone off the table and set to silent or vibrate. Wait to check calls and texts until you are finished with the meal and away from the table.

3. Don't use your utensils like a shovel or stab your food.

4. Don't pick your teeth at the table.

5. Remember to use your napkin.

6. Wait until you're done chewing to sip or swallow a drink. (Choking is clearly an exception.)

7. Cut only one piece of food at a time.

8. Avoid slouching and don't place your elbows on the table while eating (though it is okay to prop your elbows on the table while convening between courses, and always has been. even in Emily's day).

9. Instead of reaching across the table for something, ask for it to be

10. Take part in the dinner conversation.
